Discover the fundamentals of geospatial energy modelling and learn how to build your own electrification analysis. This course introduces key concepts in integrating spatial data into energy planning, offering insights into global energy resources and their geospatial characteristics. You will gain hands-on experience with the Open Source Spatial Electrification Tool (OnSSET) and essential GIS methods, culminating in the creation of a country-level electrification model using the Global Electrification Platform (GEP).
Not yet available — A Modelling User Interface for OnSSET is under development. This interface will enhance your skills in energy systems modelling with user-friendly features and additional learning materials, enabling comprehensive national-level analysis.
OnSSET has been part of all EMP-G and EMP-A events since 2018, teaching the tool to over 200 analysts worldwide. These sessions build national capacity in developing least-cost electrification pathways and integrating spatial analysis into energy system planning.
